Your tween’s next favorite book is coming to Disney+, and you can buy a copy on Amazon for less than $10.
We love the idea of the next generation of burgeoning bookworms exploring new worlds and immersing themselves in fantastical stories. With the recent news that Disney+ is turning yet another popular book into a TV show, we can’t think of a better time to reread a book from the early 2000s that your tween will love. Eragon is already being made into a show for Disney+, but you can buy the fantasy book right now for less than $10 on Amazon before the show starts filming.
Before we talk about what this book is about, let’s tell you what’s happening on TV. Variety says that Disney+ is in the early stages of making a live-action version of Eragon. Eragon is the first book in The Inheritance Cycle, a fantasy series by Christopher Paolini that has three more books after Eragon. The author also said the same thing on Twitter. Why is everyone so excited? Well, if you just skim the plot of the book, we’re sure you’ll be interested.

Eragon is the story of a young farm boy named Eragon who finds an egg. When the egg hatches, Eragon names the baby dragon Saphira. With the help of his mentor Brom and his strengthening bond with Saphira, Eragon learns to become a Dragon Rider — an ancient people once thought to have been completely wiped out by the tyrannical king Galbatorix. Eragon and Saphira must defeat Galbatorix once and for all and bring freedom back to Alagasia.

It sounds like Eragon is written just right for the movie version of the book. Since 2003, when it was first published by Knopf, the book has been a favorite among readers. After the movie version in 2006, which both audiences and critics felt left a lot to be desired, this upcoming TV version might introduce a whole new generation to this fantastical world. Right now, the novel is only $8.34 on Amazon, so don’t wait. Your young reader won’t be able to put this book down.
